Giant database megacorporation Oracle said it has paid $1.5 billion to buy a cloud computing company called RightNow.
Like every other computer vendor, of course Oracle is very much interested in the cloud.
RightNow, apparently, has a product called Customer Service Cloud – and what does it do? “It helps organisations deliver exceptional customer experiences across call centers, the web and social networks. Together, Oracle and RightNow can enable a superior customer experience at every contact and across every channel.”
Oracle said it is “moving aggressively” to offer its customers a whole skyful of cloud stuff, including sales force automation, HR, databases and Java.
The board of directors of RightNow have said yes to Oracle, and the conclusion of the deal will depend on everything regulatory being completed.
