MSI is launching a huge global online gaming tournament, with Fnatic, in games including Call of Duty 4, Counter Strike 1.6, Heroes of Newerth and Quake Live. The top player will feel their wallet weight $65,000 heavier.
The first tournament that happens this weekend is a go at FPS staple Counter Strike, which will be available for 64 teams. It’ll be a single elimination bracket with the finals being the best of three rounds. The second qualifier will be on the 25th and 26th of June while the final will be held online between the 9th and 11th of July – qualifier winners will get $400. The tournaments will be hosted via the Fnatic Play platform.
The tournament is officially called Beat It, and MSI’s involved because it’s keen to tout its new GT660 and GX660 gaming notebooks. After all the online matches are through, players will have the chance to win an expenses paid trip to Beijing for the grand final offline tournament on the weekend starting 4th September.
