EA still not out of the Woods yet

EA Games says that it will continue to run games based around the golfing ability of alleged serial shagger Tiger Woods.

The outfit said said it will introduce the next version of its Tiger Woods console video game in June despite the star golfer’s public relations nightmare and decline in popularity following his bed hopping antics.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 introduction will follow an online version launched today. The console game will be available on the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and iPhone platforms, the company said.

EA signed a sponsorship deal with Woods in 1997 and introduced 12 versions of the console game bearing his name. It is still one of the company’s best-selling sports products.

The company said that it did not form a relationship with him so that he could act as an arm’s length endorser. Regardless of what’s happening in his personal life. Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history.

We thought that was part of the problem, but we don’t understand why EA does not try to capitalise on the situation and spice up the otherwise dull golf game with stuff that he really gets up too. Getting out a car while your wife his helping you with a golf club for example.

AT&T and Accenture had sponsorship deals with Woods and have distanced themselves from the world’s top golfer since the allegations of multiple extramarital affairs.
