Digg re-engineers itself with fluence from Twitter, Facebook

Social site Digg is going to change its look and feel to get away from its geeky and nerdy audience.

That is what CEO Jay Adelson told a conference over the weeked, according to a report in the LA Times.

Digg’s already started testing a beta and Digg has a mission statement that’s way weirder than most, the paper said. Digg ‘enables the social curation of the world’s content and the conversations around it’.

This is as close to meaningless as a mission statement can get. The site will change so that stories won’t get the Digg effect any more and external websites find themselves downed by thousands of Diggsters suddenly reading a site they’d never visited before, possibly.

Now you’ll be able to personalize your news page, says the LA Times.
