Blue Screen of Death patch pulled by Redmond

Microsoft has suspended downloads of a security patch that had the unfortunate effect of turning your PC into a dead PC with the all so formerly familiar Blue Screen of Death.

RedmondMicrosoft said it had found one patch that requires un-installation to stop the blue screen of death from happening.  The offending patch is KB977165.

If the problem has happened, you have to boot from a Windows XP CD or DVD disk and kick the recovery console into action.

Then you have to go down on what used to be DOS and type one of those gruesome commands.

Microsoft also has an automated piece that prevents your PC against the vulnerabilities that the patch was supposed to cover.

Full details of the information is in this social forum Microsoftie chat.
