Tea Party backs hacker

The Tea Tray lobby group has called in its biggest gun in a desperate bid to save the political career of one of its candidates who has been caught in a computer hacking scandal.

The tea biscuits have called in Moose hunter Sarah Palin, who has herself been the victim of a computer hacker, in a desperate bid to save the career of the Republican candidate. for the US Senate, Joe Miller.

Newly released documents have revealed that Miller lied about computer tampering. Until recently he was regarded as a safe Republican bet to win in Alaska.

Palin is to attend a rally with Miller today. Other rightwingers are to participate by video, including Mike Huckabee, one of the likely contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, Michele Bachmann, the outspoken congresswoman, and Jim DeMint.

The documents include a confession from Miller about a computer hacking scandal which took place in 2008 while he was working as a lawyer for a local council.

He wired up the computers of government workers to vote in an online political poll which was a breach of the council’s ethical policy. To cover himself he deleted lots of material from the computers to cover his tracks. In covering himself he wiped passwords and saved websites of council workers.

In a memo Miller said that he “lied about accessing all of the computers. I then admitted about accessing the computers, but lied about what I was doing. Finally, I admitted what I did.”

In the memo, he said: “I acknowledge that my access to others’ computers was wrong, participating in the poll was wrong, lying was wrong, and there is absolutely no excuse for any of it.”

At the time he was suspended for three days, placed on six month probation and referred to an employee help programme.

While it is nice he ‘fessed up, having a lying hacker as your Senator is not something many Alaskans want.

To make matters worse, Miller tried his best to get the case censored. The information was released after AP, the Anchorage Daily News and other US media took the case to court. Miller had been trying to stop the information coming out.

Miller is an ideal Tea Cake candidate in that he does not give press interviews in case he cocks up and answers a question and relies on spending huge amounts of cash on advertising. His recent dealings with the media who wanted to ask him questions was to have one handcuffed by his security.

Miller whined that he was the only candidate in the Senate race whose entire life history matters to the media. In US politics that applies to everyone.

Despite the fact that he is a confessed liar and hacker, Miller is officially ahead of the Democratic candidate, who is not actually on the ballot paper yet. A RealClear Politics poll average, she is only one percent behind Miller, who is on 35 percent.
