Passwords pinched at Microsoft's Indian store

Chinese hackers calling themselves the Evil Shadow Team have hit at Microsoft’s Indian store last night and stolen login IDs and passwords.

According to the Times of India, the hackers were able to breach security at a website owned by one of the biggest IT companies and found user details in a plain text file, without any encryption.

Members of Evil Shadow Team posted a message on the Microsoft website saying “unsafe system will be baptized”.

The site seems to have been taken offline by Microsoft. Any India Store visitors might want to change their passwords, sharpish.

What is particularly strange is that Microsoft had the unencrypted data lying around.

A red-faced Microsoft spokesperson said that Microsoft is investigating a “limited compromise” of the company’s online store in India.
