Gene Simmons DdoS hacker arrested

The Untouchables have arrested Kevin George Poe and claim that it was he who masterminded a five day DdoS attack on the website of Gene Simmons.

For those who remember the 1970s, Simmons was a make-up addicted, popular beat combo artist and tongue twister for the group Kiss. For those who do not, Simmons is now a reality television star running a show called “Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels”. And so it goes.

According to Information Week Poe said “nevermore” to Simmons after the singer hit out against filesharing. Simmons moaned about the failure of the music industry “to sue every fresh-faced, freckle-faced college kid who downloaded material.”

A grand jury thinks that there is enough evidence to link Poe to the Anonymous group. Using the handle “spydr101” he used the Low Orbit Ion Cannon (LOIC) to generate DDoS attacks on the Kiss man’s website. He can’t be the best hacker in the world. Apparently he failed to realise that the tool would add their IP address into the packets he generated. Although to be fair to Poe the reason the cops too so long to arrest him was because he had taken some steps to cover his tracks.

He was arrested at the federal courthouse on charges of conspiracy and unauthorised impairment of a protected computer. He appeared Tuesday in a U.S. District Court in Hartford, Conn., and was ordered release the same day on a $10,000 bond.

He’s due to appear in federal court in Los Angeles and faces up to 15 years porridge. If he was British, or had Aspergers, he could be looking at 60 years.
