Uncensored Playboy on the iPad

Playboy boss Hugh Hefner rocked the Apple world yesterday with a statement that an uncensored version of his magazine will be put onto the iPad.

While most Apple fanboys would love to see boobies on their favourite toy, Steve Jobs has strictly enforced a ban of anything remotely adult on the iPad.

So the news that Hefner’s rag, which is still regarded as porn by those who have not seen the real thing, will be on the iPad is a bit like hearing the news that there will be a live sex show in Disneyworld.

The news came from a Tweet from Hefner which said “Big news! Playboy–both old & new–will be available on iPad beginning in March,” about 21 hours ago. He then clarified, tweeting: “Yes, all the back issues of Playboy will be available on iPad, & current issues as well.” He then elaborated yet again: “Playboy on iPad will be uncensored, Hugh.”

As you might have guessed, Hef was either misinformed.

MSN got on the blower and contacted a Playboy PR bunny woman who clarified her bosses comments.

She said Playboy was releasing a web-based subscription service with Bondi Digital Publishing that will give users access to every issue of Playboy both past and present.

The service will be iPad compatible and will use iPad functions. Playboy also have plans to release a non-nude version of a Playboy-branded iPad app in the coming months that adheres to all of Apple’s Bible belt style censorship.

In otherwords Playboy is releasing an uncensored iPad-specific website, but not an uncensored iPad app. It plans to release an app, but it will be censored. So go back to sleep Apple fanboys, the sexual revolution will continue to pass you by and your mum will not have to take your toys away.
