Qualcomm gets 100 ISVs as its Gobi just desserts

Over 100 ISVs are developing software for Qualcomm’s Gobi 3G/4G connectivity, the company has announced.

Gobi is an embedded mobile broadband module that connects to 3G networks and supports HSPA and EV-DO.

Software includes better data protection and security for Gobi-equipped notebooks, cost control, location services and others.

The Gobi platform includes integrated connectivity and GPS, with companies like Absolute Software, Airpatrol, Anomalous Networks, De Lorme Software, Fiberlink, iPass, Tangoe and Trellia making apps that include asset tracking, and mobile device management.

Companies currently implementing Gobi include Acer, Asus, Fujitsu. HP, Toshiba, Dell, Irex, General Dynamics, Panasonic and Sony.
