Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt has been telling the Italian press that the company is planning to have its own tablet on the market in the first half of 2012.
Executive chairman Eric Schmidt told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera that “in the next six months we plan to market a tablet of the highest quality.”
He added that introducing such a device would be guaranteed to increase the “brutal competition between Apple and Google Android.”
Schmidt’s comments could be marking a partnership with an OEM and the world on the street is that it will be doing something with Apple’s public enema number one, Samsung.
Google is already working alongside Samsung with its Nexus range of smartphones so it does not tax the brain to think who would be Schmidt’s first port of call if he wanted to build a tablet.
