Obama kids have limited online life

While he might have been elected on the basis of Internet freedoms, President Obama’s kids don’t see a lot of it.

US first lady Michelle Obama says she limits her daughters’ use of computers, television and phones during the week, in an effort to curb use of Facebook and other social networking sites.

Mrs Obama told CNN the family runs a set of household “guidelines and rules that make sense” and actively talk with Sasha, 8, and Malia, 11, about what they are doing online.

She admits that she finds the whole social notworking thing confusing as her generation didn’t have Facebook and internet. She would have found it easier to monitor her kids phone calls.

Mr and Mrs Obama talk with their daughters about the dangers of Facebook and “getting into the gossip mill that comes from those activities”.
