UK mobile operators queue up for Ipad contract

Steve JobsIpad will be available from March, the fruit loving gadget makers have confirmed today. One thing that has yet to be confirmed is which mobile network operators will get the monopoly on the tablet’s internet connection.

Mysterious sources told The Times that Orange is in talks to provide the “3G” mobile internet connections to the new machine. But that we shouldn’t rule out the other operators, including O2 and Vodafone, making it basically the three-way battle between the three operators which already have the Iphone.

In an announcement today, Apple has said that the wi-fi versions of the machine will be on UK shelves from March, with the 3G version out in April.

AT&T will be the first network internet provider for the iPad in the US but there are no details yet on how much the device will cost in the UK, or when British customers can  pre-order the iPad.
