The Taiwanese government is committed to installing LED street lights starting from next year, it has emerged.
Taiwan, which is something of a powerhouse for LED manufacturing, has already said that it will install LED based traffic lights by the end of this year, and will install LED lights in all government offices.
The Taiwan Economic News said that the move will be a boost for local manufacturers of LED lights – such as Lite On Technology and Delta Electronics. But it may also trigger shortages in the supply chain.
The paper said Taiwanese president Ma Ying-jeou visited Delta Electronics yesterday and said that Taiwan’s LED business is first in terms of volume and second in terms of value.
