The Kindle for PC app will from this week be available on the Asus Eee PC 1005PE, 13-inch UL30A laptop and UL30.
The company said from this week customers using Kindle for PC will be able to choose from 540,000 books, including New York Times Bestsellers and New Releases.
“Like all Kindle apps, Kindle for PC includes Amazon’s Whispersync technology, which saves and synchronizes a customer’s notes, highlights, bookmarks and last page read across their Kindle, Kindle DX, PC, Mac and other devices so customers always have their reading material with them and never lose their place whether at home or on-the-go,” said Asus.
The laptops and netbooks, which will be available only on Amazon will also have extended battery life of up to 11 hours.
The announcement hasn’t come as a huge surprise to us over here at TechEye. Earlier this month we reported that the company had posted a range of job advertisements online for places at its Lab 126 division, the part of the company responsible for the Kindle, which we, and the New York Times had predicted spelt out a partnership.
We asked the guys at Amazon if this could partnership detract from the kindle’s appeal but as usual was keeping tight lipped.
