NEC launches ShieldPRO N22A rugged laptop

NEC has today launched a new rugged laptop called the ShieldPRO N22A in Asia Pacific.

The laptop features a 12.1-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display, with extra brightness capable of up to 750 candelas per square metre. The display can be rotated to give either a laptop or tablet experience.

It is powered by a 1.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processer U7500 and comes with a detachable hard disk drive. It also comes with a fingerprint recognition sensor.

The ShieldPRO N22A comes in a rugged design, with extra strong casing that is both lightweight and durable. The notebook weighs in at 2.5kg, but it’s tough enough to withstand a battering. It has passed tests that involved dropping it from great heights, striking it, and generally doing what many consumers do when they get their hands on the latest Apple product.

It is designed to be operated in extreme environments and will function in regions with a temperate ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius, making it a perfect accompaniment on your arctic cruise or while riding camels through Egypt

It even comes with added dust and water resistance, conforming with the IP55 standard, in case you drop your notebook in the water after hitting a iceberg or encounter a sandstorm while looking up the history of the pyramids online.

It has a long lasting battery that will keep you online for up to 12 hours.The battery life and overall durability are essential for the harshest of conditions, such as in the army or while taking public transport.
