Mimomonitors, Samsung show off fancy new displays

Mimomonitors has announced that its new Mimo 720-F “flex-screen” touchscreen monitor is now available.

The Mimo 720-F is a usb-powered mini monitor with a 7-inch 800×480 pixel LCD touchscreen with a 400:1 contrast ratio.

As with others in its Mobile Slider series, Mimomonitors has included a VESA 75 standard compatible back mount, allowing users to mount it pretty much wherever they want.

It’s available for $199.99.

Meanwhile Samsung has revealed a 19-inch transparent screen, a step up from the 14-inch version it revealed at CES 2010 earlier this year.

Not a lot is known about the new screen yet, other than that it is an ultra-thin AMOLED display with 30 percent partial transparency.

This is a step closer to having transparent computer screens on our car windows and other places, presenting lots of new ways for people to crash or get knocked over while reading their e-mail instead of watching the road.

Samsung also released two new digital photo frames that are a little larger than the Mimomonitor screen, the 8-inch 800P and 10-inch 1000P. The screens are optimised for 800×480 and 1024×600 resolution respectively, but they will automatically resize pictures to fit.

They both use the Samsung Emotional user interface for ease of use and sport 2GB internal storage, and support additional storage via SDHC cards.

They can be connected by USB to your PC or laptop and also support Bluetooth 2.0. Not only can you transfer pictures via Bluetooth, you can play music from your phone over a picture too.
