Macbook clone runs on Atom processor

We have to admire the humour of the Chinese Apple clone maker Shanzai.com.

The outfit has just released a Macbook Pro clone, which in itself would greatly miff the true and visible religious Empire of Steve Jobs’ Apple.

However the outfit seems to think that the spec of a Macbook is a Nintendo but light. In fact Shanzai seems to believe that Apple fanboys would not notice the difference between an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and an Intel Atom.

The case looks like bit like a MacBook Pro case, if you see it from the right angle and in the correct light. It also has the large touchpad with integrated buttons.

It is available with a choice of a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 or dual core 1.66GHz Atom D510 chip. Both versions ship with next-generation Nvidia Ion graphics which means it can handle HD video playback and rendering 3D graphics.

You can run one to 2GB of RAM, a 160GB to 320GB hard drive, a 1366 x 768 pixel display, HDMI, 3 USB ports, a flash card reader, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, and Bluetooth.

We don’t think many will be able to confuse the two machines, but it is a bit of an insult to the intelligence to Apple fanboys everywhere, that Shanzai thinks that it can mimic Apple’s Macbook pro performance with an Atom.
