LG launches smartphone for beginners

Many of us have jumped on the smartphone bandwagon sporting either a love it or hate it iPhone, or rebelling against the herd with Android based device.

However there are some people out there who have not yet embraced this technology and as it advances it becomes more and more complicated.

To help people get onto the smartphone ladder LG has launched an Android smartphone for beginners.

The Optimus GT540 has been designed for “first-time smartphone users”, and includes all the Google based services you would find in a standard Android smartphone. This includes email, blogging, social networking and apps on a Android 1.6 operating system.

Dr. Skott Ahn, president of LG Electronics, said: “LG Optimus is the ideal choice for early smartphone users who expect all the features of smartphones without the complexity.

“This is a device that was designed for regular people who want to jump into the smartphone experience but have been hesitant to do so because of the learning curve. By making LG Optimus more approachable, we hope more people will give smartphones a try.”

As well as the features you’d expect to find in a smartphone the LG Optimus also has  32GB of expandable microSD memory, DivX and Xvid video players, a 3MP camera and video editing software for perfect YouTube uploads.

It will be available from tomorrow.
