Kingston announces "fastest ever" SDHC cards

Kingston has announced its latest Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) UHS-I UltimateXX memory cards, which it claims are the fastest currently available in the world.

The memory cards, which can be used in SDHC and SDXC-compatible digital cameras and other portable devices, features speeds of 233x, which equates to up to 60MB/s read speeds and 35MB/s write speeds, which is up to three times faster than Class 10 SDHC cards.

These speeds are available for devices which use the ultra high-speed bus I (UHS-I), but the cards are also backwards compatible with Class 4, Class 6 and Class 10 devices, although speeds may be slower on these.

The cards are approved by the Secure Digital Association, which sets the standars required for high-performance SD memory cards. They also feature a built-in write-protect switch to prevent accidental data loss.

Three capacities are available in the UltimateXX range: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB.

The cards will sell for £81 ($129), £163 ($259), and £327 ($520) respectively and come with a lifetime warranty.
