Israel lifts Apple iPad ban

Authorities in the Israeli government said that it will now allow Apple iPads to be imported into the country.

Israel ostensibly imposed the ban because the iPad did not conform to Euro standards for wireless devices. Customs had impounded iPads as people entered the country.

Although Israel cited lack of conformance to European wireless standards, no European country imposed a similar ban on iPads being imported.

You can’t yet buy the Apple iPad in Europe after Apple decided that heavy demand for the devices meant it would service the American market first.

The iPad will become available in some European countries at the end of May.
