HP has today announced its new line of printers which supposedly work straight out of the box instead of having to fumble around with CDs and drivers.
The HP LaserJet Pro P1100 series, the HP LaserJet Pro M1130/M1210 Multifunction Printer series and the HP LaserJet Pro P1566/P1606dn series are all the new contenders. According to the company, the HP Smart Install printers only need to be hooked up to a netbook, desktop or notebook by USB and they’re good to go straight away.
In a statement, HP said that customers “demand easy printing” and that it is giving to them. “There are no clumsy CD-ROMs to install, no drivers to download.” We wonder why HP is only thinking of this now, after years and years and years of shipping its printers packed with CDs featuring heaps of its own bloatware.
We are told that the new line of printers are more cost-effective than previous efforts, while also being designed to reduce environmental impact.
The printers, which start from $129 and go up to $199, are all available worldwide right now.
