Gigabyte claims first in iPad re-charge

Motherboard maker Gigabyte said that it has updated a driver for its products that lets your iPad re-charge when its being used or when its off.

The company claims that most USB ports on many Windows PCs haven’t got the juice to charge the iPad while its being used because of differences between USB power output and the iPad’s charging specs.

But Gigabyte products – or at least 40 of its motherboard models – can do the trick, the firm claimed.

It said that it originally introduced what it calls 3X USB power because of power loss over cable distance. 3X USB can provde up to 1,500mA from a USB 2.0 port or 2,700mA from a USB 3.0 port.

You will need to download the Gigabyte On/Off charge driver, which you can find here.

And here’s a vid Gigabyte has prepared to demo the function.
