Dell launches Android based tablet

Dell has launched a 5-inch Android-based Tablet, the Streak, which it claims is designed to provide people with the best “on-the-go” entertainment, social connection, and navigation experience.

Streak will be available from June and will originally be sold through the O2 at the Carphone Warehouse before being made available on Dell’s website. The company says the tablet’s 5 inch screen is just the ticket for checking out Android Market widgets, games and applications, without having to squint or or worry about portability.

There’s also built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity for downloading and listening to music, updating your social notworking and staying connected with e-mail, text, IM, and voice calls. There is also a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash as well as user accessible Micro SD expandable memory available up to 32 GB.

Dell has also added in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon with an integrated 1GHz processor to turn it into a mini laptop. It’s also said the tablet will support over-the-air updates including platform upgrades and Adobe Flash 10.1 on Android 2.2 later this year.
