Who says that Apple never admits responsibily for shonky products and does nothing for its users other than take their money away?
After receiving complaints that the headphones and remote that come with their third-generation iPod shuffle were pants and often stop working. Jobs Mob has rushed into action.
It admits that “Under certain conditions,” the company has determined, the tiny buttons on the in-line remote may not respond or respond only intermittently. Other symptoms: an “unexpected” increase or decrease in volume or the voice feedback might suddenly start playing.
The certain conditions seem to be things like “time” and “existing on the material plane”.
However, it seems Jobs’ Mob is taking the matter extremely seriously and announced that if your inferior headphones stop working, it will replace them with another inferior pair of headphones.
The affected earbuds were sold with Shuffles from February 2009 to February 2010. The serial number ranges of the iPod with the covered headphones are
xx909xxxxxx to xx952xxxxxx and xx001xxxxxx to xx004xxxxxx.
Apparently the best way to get a replacement pair is to bring the non working headphones to an Apple retail store for a swap.Watch out for crooks!
Of course most people will have already replaced the headphones with something that works and can carry sound in a way that is pleasing to the ear.
