Chip company AMD said it has introduced the first of a new family of ATI Firepro products – the V8800.
It claims that it’s the most powerful graphics card ever, comparing it to an Nvidia line up of 240 CUDA processors.
AMD said that the $1500 V8800 belts out 2.6 teraflops of power and has a bandwidth of 147.2GB/s.
This particular card will have other family members released in the next few months.
The card has endorsements from a number of third party vendors including Autodesk, Barco, Dassault Systemes, Scalable Display Technologies, Studio GPU and the unprounounceable Vizrt.
AMD said that over 90 applications have been certified for the Firepro family.
