Samsung invests in large Nvidia Tegra 2 order – report

Samsung has placed a large order for Tegra 2 processors, an indication of its confidence in its new Galaxy tablet PC, it appears

The Korean firm has handed Nvidia an order for around 1-1.5 million processors for its new 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, according to Digitimes sources.

While the first Galaxy Tab did not quite reach the expected target of two million units sales, Samsung believes that with advantages in both the telecom and retail channels the new tab will fare better upon its release in April.

A number of other major firms moving into the tablet market are expected to be launching Tegra 2 processor supported devices, with Motorola, Dell, Acer, Asustek, Toshiba and MSI, all expected to place orders with Nvidia.

Digitimes also noted that Asustek has placed an order for around 500,000 units in the first half of 2011 for its Eee Pad Transformer EP101 and Eee Pad Slider EP102, being launched in April and May respectively.
