Samsung and Hynix find takers for eMCP in China

Samsung and Hynix have been successfully pushing sales of their eMCP memory products to China.

According to Digitimesthe success of their cunning plan has been creating a windfall for Taiwan suppliers of eMMC controller chips.

The eMCP memory from Samsung and Hynix are being incorporated with MediaTek’s dual-core MT6577 chipsets. This has become the standard reference memory design for smartphone makers in China and boosted demand for eMCP memory.

The main eMMC controller IC vendors are Faraday Technology and Phison Electronics, and have been flat out trying to meet the increasing demand from Samsung and Hynix.

Faraday, which produces eMMC controller chips for Samsung, has has been increasing its wafer orders at UMC and plans to add more orders in September.

Faraday has seen its revenues grow 26 percent over the last month and 82.7 percent over the last year. This is against the overall trend in the IT industry. Even the mobile market has been taking a bit of a canning.

Hynix has been sourcing eMMC controller ICs from Phison and has just signed an order with Faraday to make similar chips.
