AMD loses its chief technical officer

Chip company AMD has lost its long-standing chief technical officer Rick Bergman who is apparently going to work at another company.

The company said in a statement yesterday that Bergman’s job will be covered by freshly formed CEO Rory Read (pictured).

Bergman was responsible for bringing the Fusion CPU to AMD’s party, but there have been some delays in making the Llano chip.

At the same time, AMD said it had hired Paul Struhsaker to oversee its business unit. Struhsaker formerly worked at Comcast, where he was a senior vice president in charge of server applications.

Read said he thanked Bergman for his contributions to AMD and wished him well for the future.
