Mark Hurd's HP departure rouses investigation

It’s been, ahem, Hurd on the streets that HP is planning an “independent” investigation into the circumstances of its former CEO’s departure.

The company has called in the lawyers to look at the departure of Mark “I did not sleep with that woman” Hurd following a shareholder lawsuit in federal court in San Jose, which claimed that HP’s directors wasted company money by awarding Hurd as much as $53 million in severance when he resigned in August.

Of course it’s well known that he quit after an internal investigation, which found he violated business conduct standards after he tried to hide a relationship with a contractor and former soft porn star.

According to court papers the investigation will look at the “circumstances surrounding the departure of Mark Hurd and the board’s decision to approve the separation agreement between HP and Mr. Hurd,”.

HP proposes the probe will be led by a committee of outside attorneys and board members who joined after Hurd’s took his leave.

Despite causing all this trouble Hurd has got off lightly. He’s now co-president of Oracle – bet the company didn’t see that coming. He continues to wine and dine “Lounge Lizard” Larry Ellison.
