Other group buying websites like LivingSocial and BuyWithMe, which are Groupon rivals, are being considered for a buyout by the company, according to sources that the New York Post spoke to.
David Wolfe, the interim president of BuyWithMe, said that Google needs to enter the group buying market. He refused to confirm whether or not he is in talks with Google.
So far Google has not confirmed that it is attempting to buy anyone, but for several weeks of negotiations with Groupon it was equally silent
Google offered Groupon upwards of $6 billion, despite the company being worth $1.3 billion earlier in 2010. Should Google manage to buy out the smaller firms and combine them into one main offering, Groupon could have a rival on its hands.
