The King of Microsoft, Sir William Gates III, may not be the CEO any more, but as chairman, he still has a lot of clout at the software giant.
So when he says the outfit is cocking up, then there will be a few shocked gasps.
In a recent interview with “CBS This Morning” Gates said he’s not happy with the company’s innovations.
But Gates refused to put all the blame on chief executive officer Steve Ballmer.
Gates said that Steve and he were the most self-critical people and there were a lot of amazing things that Steve’s leadership got done with the company in the last year.
But he did not think it was nearly enough and both “he and I” were not satisfied that in “breakthrough things” Microsoft was doing well.
Gates did not think that Microsoft was doing everything possible to take leadership back either.
True, Vole dropped the ball when it came to mobile phones. It did not miss the shift to mobile but the way that we went about it didn’t allow Vole to get the leadership, Gates moaned.
