Big Blue turned blind eye to bullying manager

Biggish Blue has been sued down-under by a woman who claims she was sexually harassed and bullied – and the company failed to do anything about it.

The unnamed Melbourne woman is suing IBM for $1.1 million over allegations it failed to act on her repeated complaints of bullying and sexual harassment.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the woman was a senior sales consultant who worked in IBM’s Melbourne office.

She was earning more than $150,000 a year when she alleges a new senior manager turned her life upside down.

Over two years she claims she endured behaviour including sexual remarks, inappropriate touching, yelling and abuse, name calling and unreasonable work demands.

The manager does not work for IBM any more.

The woman claims that despite repeatedly complaining, the IBM suits did nothing for more than 18 months.  She said she was shattered.

She lost her career at IBM and it is unclear whether she will work again any time soon. She suffers from low self-esteem, loss of confidence, insomnia, anxiety and severe depression.

Big Blue said in a statement that it takes any matters of this nature very seriously. However so far it had not seen the claim.
