TechCrunch – described as a Silicon Valley bog – was bought by AOL today, along with a video company called 5 Min Media that’s no relation at all. The Crunchie deal has been on the cards for a little while.
Although it’s a private transaction, insiders reckon AOL bought TechCrunch for between $35 million to $40 million – Michael Arrington’s bog has around 35 million page views per calendar month, so that’s $1 a page view.
Which doesn’t seem that bad for Arrington’s vehicles.
AOL is apparently making a bid to be acquired itself. There is practically no other notion that can make sense of its bid for the two sites.
